Flatbread builds a wood-fired pizza oven on a trailer.

It started out years ago as a rough drawing on a scrap piece of paper, then Gary, our bakery's Production Manager, said that he knew of a trailer for sale. We bought the trailer that formerly hauled a wood-splitter, found the old drawing of the oven, and called our friend Jerry at his Custom Iron shop in Santa Maria.

The finished oven trailer is decorated with over 800 tiles each painted by students from our local Olga Reed Elementary School. The kid's art now travels with the oven and will be seen by thousands of people at events and charity bakes. In the fall, we will return to Olga Reed and bake for the school's lunch program! Bob Nichols at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria fired all 800 of the tiles for us in his kilns in the Fine Arts Department. He had great patience while working with us, as we do not have the over 30 years of experience he does.

Thank you Bob Nichols and Hancock College!

Our trailer at the recent "Dad's and Dolcetto" event at Palmina Winery - all the colored tiles are done by the local Olga Reed K-8 school kids!

We baked over 300 pizzas in 90 minutes at beautiful Mission La Purisima in Lompoc for the "Fire and Wine" event.

We baked food beneath an awning behind theAu Bon Climat and Qupe winery building next to a bottling truck idled for the day and beside a row of chilled 20 foot tall chardonnay fermeters. 500 hungry guests lined up for our pizzas! As a backdrop the beautiful IIl Podere vineyard, the Santa Maria hills, and thousands of Avocado trees.
